A police dog demonstration in Natick raised funds for the Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog non-profit group which benefits K9 units in the state.

Volunteers from the Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog non-profit organization raised funds in Natick's Pet World shop on Saturday as part of their efforts to provide protective vests to the state's K9 units.  Providing a demonstration of the capabilities of police dogs at the event was officer Chris Alberini and his furry partner, Dax, from the Ashland Police Department.  During the event Dax was wearing a vest that protects from knives and can act as a hoist or a harness in various scenarios, Kathy Hinds, President of Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog said.  Over its 12-year career, Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog has provided 323 police dogs with protective vests and has made grants to the state's K9 unit programs.  "People love their dogs and we want to protect…

Police Search Woods for Suicidal Man

Officers are searching for a man who jumped from a vehicle into Natick's woods.

Update July 16 7:29 p.m. Police located the man in Marlborough, a scanner report said. The state K9 unit and air wing were cleared, the report said.  --- K9 units are aiding Natick Police in a search of a man described as "suicidal" who jumped from a vehicle and fled into the woods Monday evening, according to initial scanner reports.  Police are searching the Rte. 9 and North Main Street areas for a man described as wearing "all dark blue."  Stay tuned to Natick Patch for details as they become available.
