Kennedy Middle School will open Thursday, despite still having no power after Irene.
Kennedy Middle School will open its doors for the first day Thursday, despite still having no power since Irene hit. School officials announced just before 8 p.m. Tuesday that Kennedy would not be opening with the rest of the schools on Wednesday due to the power outage. But today, the schools notified parents that Thursday would be the first day, despite the lack of power, internet or working phones. The classes will be held in classrooms that have enough natural light and lunch will be available, according to the schools. In case of emergency, parents may call a cell number, 774- 270-6596. The Windsor Avenue and Eastleigh Lane bus stop has been changed to Windsor Avenue and Proctor Street for safety reasons as many roads are still …

As of 8 a.m. on Wednesday, NSTAR reports that 636 Natick customers still have no power.
NSTAR crews have been working to repair power lines across town, but as of 8 a.m. Wednesday, 636 of 16,201 Natick customers are still in the dark. The 3.93 percent may not have their power restored until 10 p.m. on Friday, according to the company's most recent estimates. Several of the town's roads remain closed or have limited access at this time. For a complete list, click here. NSTAR reports that 35,000 customers overall still have no power, down from 84,000 Tuesday morning.

Days after Irene uprooted trees and tore power lines to the ground, the following roads are still closed or have limited access at this time, according to the town: Many trees around town are still hanging or ready to topple. Anyone who spots a tree that appears to be dangerous, is asked to call the Department of Public Works at 508-647-6550. The town warns that many of the wires are still live and no one should touch them.

Many Natick residents are still experiencing power outages and NSTAR reports it could take several days.
Two days after Irene brought down power lines and trees across Natick, many residents remain in the dark. While NSTAR is gradually restoring power to some parts of town, other may be without for several days. According to NSTAR, crews were able to restore power to half their customers over night, but 84,000 in total and 15,000 in the MetroWest area are still waiting. The company said they are working around the clock and will first fix lines that will impact the largest number of customers. Anyone still without power should call 1-800-592-2000.

Irene knocked the power out at the Charles River Coffee House in South Natick overnight yesterday.
It was business as usual at the Charles River Coffee House in South Natick this morning and owner Stephen Cote was breathing a sigh of relief. Like much of South Natick, part of which remains without electricity, the shop lost power around 11 a.m. on Sunday. The outage forced Cote to close the doors of his business and send his employees home. Every hour during the early morning, Cote said he drove to his store from his home on Union Street to see if the power had returned. At 4 a.m., he spotted NSTAR trucks working to repair lines damaged by a fallen tree on his road, which is nearby the coffee house. Power was back on by 7 a.m., only a half an hour after the shop was normally scheduled to open. Despite having no electricity for 20 hours…
