Lt. Gov. Murray Aims to Protect Military Bases

Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray signed an executive order Monday to help protect military bases in Massachusetts from budget cuts and closures.

Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray signed an executive order on Monday that will help protect military bases in Massachusetts, including Natick Army Labs. Five Arrested at Army Labs for Forged Identification

Five New York men were arrested allegedly trying to gain entry to the Natick Army Labs with suspected stolen electronics and some with suspected forged credit cards and false RMV documentation, according to police.

The following information was obtained from the Natick Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. Patch prints all arrests. Five New York men were arrested just after 2 p.m. Monday after allegedly trying to gain entrance to the Natick Army Labs with forged identification, according to Natick Police. Police also identified what seemed to be stolen electronics and forged credit cards in the vehicle. Jeriel Delosangeles, 22, of 131 W. Cambridge Rd. Apt. D5, Bronx, NY was charged with receiving stolen property over $250 and conspiracy. The four other men received the same, with additional charges. Bryand Raposo, 20, of 12 Clifford Pl. Dinner Recognizes Natick's Veterans

Natick honored its veterans at a dinner at the Natick Army Labs on Friday evening.

The Natick Soldier Systems Center hosted a Veterans Day dinner on Friday night to honor and celebrate the sacrifices of Natick's veterans. Several speakers shared their stories and helped the crowd honor the veterans.

Wilson Field Trip Bus Hits Army Labs Gate

A bus window was shattered after hitting the gate at the Army Labs. The seventh-graders were examined by medical staff.

A bus filled with seventh graders from Wilson Middle School hit the gate of the Natick Army Labs while leaving a field trip today, causing the back window of the bus to shatter. The students were examined by medical staff for any injuries, said principal Anna Nolin in a statement, adding the windows on the school buses are designed to break outward. Students returned to Wilson for lunch before returning to classes.

Natick Honors WWII Vet Missing 3 Weeks

Frederick Spellman, a WWII veteran, was honored for his service on Wednesday.

Almost 67 years after he went missing during WWII, Natick resident Frederick Spellman has received the Silver Star Honorable Service medal, recognizing his bravery in action. At 19-years-old, the Maine native joined the U.S. Army, serving in Normandy in 1944. In December of that year, he became trapped behind enemy lines for three weeks, during which the Army sent his family a letter notifying them that Spellman was missing. After returning to friendly lines, he continued to fight and was wounded in combat in July 1945 and earned a Purple Heart.
