Natick schools will receive $25,000 to fight obesity and promote healthy lifestyles.
Natick Public Schools will receive a $25,000 grant to fight obesity and promote physical activity. Tufts Health plan and ChildObesiety 180 selected Natick as a regional winner of the grant as a way to reward schools that have "creative, impactful, and scalable school-based programs and technologies to promote children’s physical activity," a press release from Tufts said. “This grant will be used to create programs that will encourage a healthy lifestyle and stave off childhood obesity that causes so many avoidable health issues,” Natick Public Schools Superintendent Peter Sanchioni said in the release. The program began in February 2012 with a video from First Lady Michelle Obama who encouraged participation in the program.
