Selectmen Expected to Appoint New Police Officer Tonight

Natick Chief of Police James Hicks has recommended that the Board of Selectmen appoint Sean Taylor to the Natick Police Department when Officer Robert White retires in March.

According to the posted agenda on the Town of Natick's website, the Board of Selectmen will be asked to appoint a new officer to the Natick Police Department as part of the meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Chief of Police James Hicks has recommended Sean Taylor, a 2005 graduate of Natick High School who holds a Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice from Curry College. Taylor is currently employed by Framingham State University Public Safety. Taylor will replace Officer Robert White, who will retire on March 5.

The Natick police and fire departments were are Boston Scientific Friday morning leaving some people to wonder what was happening.

If you drove by Boston Scientific Friday morning you may have noticed fire trucks and police cars. But what were they doing there? It's a good thing you asked, because when you ask a question, Patch tries to get the answer. According to Natick Chief of Police James Hicks, there was a building under demolition and it came down onto some equipment. "They were strategically removing some beams when the building became unstable," Hicks said. "All parties were accounted for and there were no injuries." Update: Promoted Officers to Be Sworn in Monday

Officers John Doherty Jr., Allan Graham and Cara Rossi Cafarelli will be promoted at a ceremony Monday night at Town Hall.

Several members of the Natick Police Department have been promoted in recent weeks and will be officially sworn in to their new positions at a ceremony Monday night. At a Board of Selectmen meeting last Tuesday, police chief James Hicks announced that officers John Doherty, Jr. and Allan Graham will be promoted to sergeants. Doherty, a detective, has been a part of the Natick Police Department since 1993. Graham came to Natick in 1992 after serving six years in Belligham. Cara Rossi Cafarelli will also be sworn in Monday, she as a new lieutenant. Rossi Cafarelli has been a part of the Natick department since 1994 and was promoted to sergeant in 2004.
