Natick Makes Honorable Mention on List of 13 'Top Spots to Live'

The Boston Globe Magazine identifies Natick as a community on the "upswing" based on single-family home price increases in Greater Boston from 2011 to 2012.

The Boston Globe Magazine identifies Natick as a community on the "upswing." Natick was listed in the honorable mention section in a list of the 13 Eastern Massachusetts communities the Boston Globe spotlighted in its 2013 "Top Places to Live" feature.  Citing the importance of home buyers wanting to "feel confident that they’re making a good investment" when purchasing a home, the Globe identified 13 communities "all on the upswing, with the biggest single-family home price increases in Greater Boston from 2011 to 2012." The towns on the list of 13 are: Stoughton, Beverly, Cambridge, Freetown, Groveland, Medfield, Newbury, Revere, Rockland, Shirley, South Boston, Swampscott and Topsfield.  Natick was among 19 "honorable mention" …

Home Sales Up in Middlesex County

Middlesex County saw a 1.25 percent increase in home sales in February compared to a year ago.

Middlesex County home sales increased in February—opposite of the commonwealth, which saw a drop in sales for the first time since December 2011, according to a recent report by The Warren Group, publisher of Banker & Tradesman. Middlesex County saw 487 home sales in February, which was an increase from 481 home sales in February 2012, a 1.25 percent increase. Home sales are up nearly 6 percent overall in Middlesex County this year compared to a year ago, according to The Warren Group. Median sale price in Middlesex County was up 9 percent in February 2013 compared to February 2012, while the overall 2013 median sale price was up by nearly 6 percent. Over the entire state, home sales dropped 5 percent in February compared to a year ago. It…
