Update, 11:58 p.m. Saturday, July 21: Police concluded the search, with negative results. Police have responded to the area around 149 Howe St., where a breaking and entering and assault were reported Saturday night. Police tweeted at 10:22 p.m. that officers were responding to the address for a breaking and entering and assault in a dwelling. A black male reportedly fled from the address on foot. He is described as 5 foot 10 inches, wearing a maroon shirt and dark pants. State police K9 units arrived at 11 p.m. The suspect reportedly cut a screen, entered the home, and assaulted the resident with a jewelry box while attempting to leave the house. While investigating Craig Cromartie, Natick Police recovered a tremendous amount of stolen property. Photos are posted on the department's website.
The Natick Police Department has posted on its Facebook page dozens of pictures depicting stolen goods that were recovered through an investigation into accused serial burglar Craig Cromartie. Police are seeking the owners of the stolen property, which includes rings, watches, currency, silverware and other items. Cromartie was arrested Monday after a lengthy investigation into a string of more than 200 burglaries throughout nearly a dozen communities. As a result of a search warrant, Natick Police recovered a significant number of items, all of which are pictured on the department's Facebook page. There are 77 photos. Arrested in Needham, the Framingham man may have broken into apartments and condos in more than 10 communities, police said.
A Framingham man was arrested Monday as the result of an investigation into hundreds of break-ins throughout nearly a dozen towns. Craig Cromartie, 44, of Cochituate Road, Framingham, has been charged with three counts of breaking and entering at night with intent to commit a felony for three incidents that occured in Needham on June 8, according to a press release issued June 19. An investigation continues, however, into the extent of the break-ins to which police say he is connected. Natick Police Lt. There are several detours in town because of a car vs. pole crash Wednesday morning.
A moving van unknowingly got caught this morning in some utility wires on Bacon Street, causing a pole to fall on a Mercedes and tie up traffic in the area, police said. There were no injuries in the crash, reported to police after 8:30 a.m. As of 10:45 a.m., there were detours in place at Walnut and Bacon, Bacon and Oak, and Marion and North Avenue. Natick Police Lt. Brian Grassey said a moving van was traveling on Bacon Street, and got snagged on a wire. The wire was pulled, and it knocked down a pole, which fell on a 2010 Mercedes traveling behind the van. Spruce St., Milford, was arrested and charged with larceny over $250. Saturday, June 16 12:57 a.m.: A caller reported vehicles racing on Burning Tree Road. A secondary caller reported a possible crash from vehicles racing. Police responded and found one vehicle was involved in a crash. Nathan H. Black, 19, of 6 Ranger Rd., Natick, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of property damage, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.

A 20-year-old is in custody after allegedly threatening three teens with a machete and breaking into a car.
Natick Police have arrested a 20-year-old Medway man who reportedly waved a machete at teens while they were fishing Friday night. Maximilian Wiggin, of 10 Brigham St., Medway, was charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (machete), breaking and entering into a motor vehicle and malicious wanton damage to property. Natick Lt. Brian Grassey provided the following account of the circumstances that led to Wiggin's arrest: At approximately 10 p.m. Friday, Sgt. Sunday, June 10 7:34 p.m.: Police responded to a reported disturbance on Harvard Street. According to statements, an argument ensued after a woman parked a vehicle in a spot regularly used by another resident. During the argument, a woman reportedly "applied a close fist" to another person prior to police arrival. Once police were taking statements, a second alleged victim arrived and said the vehicle in the driveway belonged to a family member, and the vehicle contained items belonging to the second victim.
