Hi Ron,
Thanks for the comment. Let me clarify here.
If I wrote this in a way that implies we support or oppose anything, then that's a failure on my part, and I'm sorry. This was intended as a platform of opinions from readers, not us.
I'll take another look at Orange Leaf, a new business coming into town is generally newsworthy in a town this size in my opinion, and we try to write stories on as many of them as we can.
On Sold, New Listings, and House Hunt, we choose a few houses in Chelmsford at random that fit the criteria for the article (sold in the last week, on the market in the last week, open house this weekend), and realtors or home owners can add their own pictures and information on top of that if they wish.
Likewise, you're right, this is not a newspaper, and businesses (and for that matter anyone), is welcomed and encouraged to use us as a platform to get the word out about whatever they want, provided they follow the terms of use.
If you see violations of the terms of use, let me know and we'll address it.

ReplyThanks Debra!
Dick and Maggie,
Chelmsford Patch frequently asks readers for their take on vacant storefronts in town due to the fact that it is always a topic of conversation (just see here), and due to the fact that the vacancy rate was a political issue during this spring's Selectmen campaign.
However, in order to maintain our objectivity, it's generally not appropriate for us to be "for" or "against" anything, especially in town, the intention here was not for us to have an opinion, but to offer a platform for members of the community to share theirs.

Hi Vincent,
If I could play devil's advocate here, in response to you saying that parents should not have a say in what goes on in the schools that they send their children to, are you saying that students should not have a say in the schools that they attend?
I think that's what AO was getting at, if I am correct here.

Hi Tyler,
It wasn't said during the meeting, but I was told today that Nangle had a family emergency in Maine he had to attend to.

Thanks Cecilia,
You're exactly right, there's no positive or negative to voting "Yes" or "No" or "Abstain", it's just a logistical thing on my part because there were so many votes.

From my understanding, the random drug searches are fairly common now.

Hi Donald,
Patch generally focuses on local and hyperlocal issues for most of our content.
If there's something relating to the tragedy in Oklahoma in your town, let your local editor know or spread the word on your own.

Okay, how would you have put it in a neutral way?
