Someone's not only been listening to Alex Jones / InfoWars, but is gullible enough to actually believe it.

"I talked earlier today personally with Dan Cathy, CEO of Chick Fil-A about the new reports that Chick Fil-A had capitulated to demands of the supporters of same sex marriage. This is not true. The company continues to focus on the fair treatment of all of its customers and employees, but to end confusion gave me this statement:
“There continues to be erroneous implications in the media that Chick-fil-A changed our practices and priorities in order to obtain permission for a new restaurant in Chicago. That is incorrect. Chick-fil-A made no such concessions, and we remain true to who we are and who we have been.”
http://www.mikehuckabee.com/2012/9/chick-fil-a-statementSupport the company, don't support the company - certainly has no impact on me.
As to "passive vs active", if that's the criteria, one can't do business with any German (or Japanese, or Italian, or other "lesser" participants) companies of a certain age. Entire companies and industries were co-opted. That being said, there certainly are people who refuse a BMW, Fiat, or Mitsubishi product.
Again, do business with BMW, Fiat, or Mitsubishi, or don't. The questioner wondered why someone would balk at doing business with Chick-fil-A, and seemed to think that the issue was new on Patch.

"History" is an important word in your post. If BMW were STILL building engines for the Nazi Luftwaffe, I wouldn't be buying their product today.

Maybe you should read the comments and debate in the Patch article linked above. Certainly not the first time the issue has come up, not even the first time in Patch.

ReplySeems that owner Bill Rodenhiser's shame and revulsion at his kitchen's condition when Bar Rescue was taped, was all for show.
Mmmmm,...salmonella.

ReplyThe moderator did a much better job at keeping the meeting moving along. Many thanks for the focus and effort.

As I see it, these problem members fall into several categories - and some members fit into more than one.
Malcontent(s): Typically a member who seems unhappy with the whole idea of town government. Public employees are enemies who can do no good, are over compensated, and should be beaten down at every turn. This type of member frequently has such open disdain for the very process of TM, that they'll go out of their way to vote against the entire body just to keep tallies from being unanimous. This type of member is fractious for the sheer joy of it.
Captive(s) to bigger political agendas: These members insist that every issue, no matter how local or trivial, be debated in the context of national political divisions. Every vote becomes an opportunity to stand up and drag national partisan politics into the debate. Not that an occasional reference to larger issues is always unwarranted, but some member(s) abuse the privilege to the point of demagoguery.
Attention whore(s): These members just like to stand up and talk. No issue is too trivial to pass up an opportunity to been seen and heard. If, it some way, it's possible to introduce and amendment that gives them even more face time, so much the better.
Town Meeting is a civic duty and responsibility. But, it shouldn't be made unnecessarily unpleasant by a very small number of members hijacking the meetings to satisfy their own needs.

First, the vast majority of TM members are considerate, thoughtful, and well meaning. I also agree that the Town Moderator has a difficult role - and while he could be more prodding when debate becomes painfully repetitive, in most ways the incumbent does a good with most of his responsibilities.
However, there is a small sub-set of TM members who make the meetings painful for everyone else. I'm not referring to the members that occasionally ask poorly constructed, rambling questions – that's often an artifact of infrequent public speaking, and there just isn't anything wrong with that. I'm talking about members who can be counted on, at each and every meeting, to hold the rest of us (and those watching at home) hostage to their personal agendas and “quirks”.
As I see it, these problem members fall into several categories - and some members fit into more than one. (to be continued)

So Duke - post documentation and evidence of the 2 billion rounds of ammo. Post evidence the DHS purchased 2700 armored vehicles - that was the MARINES, and I think you may agree that the Marines probably should have armored vehicles.
Post EVIDENCE of the claims.
