Peter writes about the American experience as viewed through the lens of local history. His interests in urban development and the environment as well as public policy and technology have led to his essays and articles appearing online and in numerous newspapers and magazines, both locally and across the country.

His interests in local and regional history and their relationship to the environment have led to a series of articles on Native Americans in the Early Colonial Period, the historic landscape of MetroWest, and sustainable technologies. As a new board member of the MetroWest Tourism and Visitors Bureau he works to develop heritage and eco-tourism opportunities in the region and the Town of Natick, where he lives.

Locally, along with Natick Patch, Peter’s columns appear on the opinion pages of the MetroWest Daily News, while his articles on community service, architecture, history and the environment appear in North Bridge and Wellesley Weston magazines.

A fine arts graduate of Boston University, Peter produced theater festivals, including the original Summerthing, and toured with musical comedies as a production stage manager. Later, he studied school reform and educational history at Harvard University while teaching in the Boston Public Schools. As a founder of the City-Wide Educational Coalition he worked to ensure parental participation in public education.

As an editor, writer and photographer for Fusion Magazine he covered the French National Strike, the Chicago Democratic Nation Convention and Woodstock, where he spent 24 hours on stage photographing the event.

While working for The Interface Group and later Data General Corporation as a technology marketer, Peter helped promote the personal computer in its early years. While with the Interface Group, Peter marketed and produced computer expositions in over a dozen, major US markets. At Data General Peter recruited and ran a network of computer systems resellers.

Since 1984 he has been principal of The Golden Group, a marketing communications firm serving numerous corporate and not-for-profit clients. Among his notable assignments he managed media and polling for a successful revision of Massachusetts ballot access law (in 1991) and the successful repeal of the Retroactive Capital Gains Tax in 2005.

His consulting work has ranged across multiple industries and causes, including residential communities, natural products and data processing systems. His not-for-profit clients have included community-based organizations dedicated to mathematics literacy, parklands restoration and political reform.

As part of his ongoing studies in Early Colonial Period, Civil War and contemporary policy issues, Peter speaks before clubs, organizations and in public forums. He also addresses motivational and marketing-related issues for corporate clients. To contact him on behalf of your group or company, call 508-655-5999.
